[ As the days pass into weeks...weeks to months... It slowly becomes clearer that the obstacles everyone faces are gradually beginning to build in scale. It's what everyone is being prepared for. Despite the danger it all poses, for the likes of Cloud? It almost feels like another day at 'work', so to speak. Then again, action was just the name of the game for the two of them now. Cloud in his constant efforts to get stronger so he can continue protecting his family and friends and continue suppressing Sephiroth's influence on the Planet. Weiss' duty as a Huntress and to her kingdom as the enemy threat looms ever so larger over the world. Yet they restored the world of Prismatica together, only to be tested (hopefully) one last time in Avalon.
At the end of the month, when they found some solace in the countryside life they've come to make their own, he noticed that something felt off about his girlfriend. Under the weather. Distracted. Out of sorts, only to bounce right back when he asked her what was wrong. At first, he didn't think much of it, perhaps the turn of events earlier finally taking a toll. Lord knows that as tuckered as he was, he'd keep soldiering forward too. The nights never changed then...except he would continue to pay extra attention to her. The month of April draws to a close, and the last thing he remembers is murmuring to her softly as his arm drapes her smaller body. When morning comes? It's like any other day once more...except this time he's the one who stirs first. ]
Nn...ah...
[ Light of a sleeper as he is, he didn't stir at all! Which meant that Weiss hadn't moved either. Sitting upright in bed, he sits down to find Weiss sound asleep still. She'd just gotten over being sick last month! So he's not so concerned. If anything, he can't help gently sighing as he leans over and shakes her shoulder. ]
Hey...
[ There's no response. But watching her peaceful face as the morning light pours in through the curtains and illuminates the bedroom, he can't help feel a sense of calm wash over him. She's usually so busy and on the go. He hasn't seen her sleep in like this since he finally freed her from the nightmares that shackled her on Prismatica. The memory of how far they came together brings a gentle smile to his face as he decides to leave her in bed. Brushing the hair that lines her pale face, he's almost tempted to go back down to bed with her and just cradle her till she finally stirs. But this time he has an impromptu idea.
He almost never gets the chance to do this... A long time ago, Cloud never would have thought of doing this! But he learned to make this solely for her happiness. ...anybody else who ever gets them is lucky! His gaze briefly flits to the back of his hand, where the command seals to his Servant once lay. The look of jubilant joy on her face when he finally delivered a perfect crepe to her the first time and the encouragement she gave when it came to making them for Weiss... He sighs in reminisce, smile softening further as he finally swings his legs out of bed. Careful not to disturb her, he silently leaves the room and starts heading downstairs to prepare breakfast in bed! ]
— — —
[ "My, this is a surprise. Is young Weiss still asleep?" ]
[ Elaine enters the kitchen, perhaps lured by the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the sizzle of bacon that colors nicely in the pan. Sparing a glance over his shoulder as he stirs the bacon bits meant for the savory breakfast crepes, he nods his head with a little smile. ]
Surprised me too.
[ That nets a soft chuckle from the elderly farmlady, who takes it upon herself to grab herself a mug and pour herself some coffee that Cloud's made. She's decided to take the day off today, save for making sure the animals are fed and their water troughs are replenished. She doesn't expect to be fed this time! But she patiently waits for the blond to complete whatever he's concocting. Returning to the table, she chimes in once more as they carry a conversation. Most of it revolves around asking of their progress since arriving in this world, the signs of chivalry and blooming knighthood she personally sees in the both of them. Cloud...was still of the opinion that he'd rather work outside the boundaries of the king. Not that he doesn't trust him, but he feels better when he can be more flexible in his actions.
Elaine has noticed that since a couple months back, he's been going out more often, but also taking over the house even more when he and Weiss were back! It's something that finally gets him to blush, only coolly shrugging it off as he finally goes on to dropping the batter into the buttered pan. Yet despite his surface-level embarrassment, he doesn't fully shy away from talking about Weiss either. The only time he finally attempts to dismiss or curve the conversation? Is when Elaine can't help but tease him as he talks.
"Oh look at that smile..."
He hadn't stopped smiling the entire time he'd been making these crepes for her. Something that makes his face burn hot when it gets attention drawn to it. Thank god he's wrapping up plating Weiss' food. He dismisses himself with a sigh, telling her to take it easy as he quietly makes his way up the stairs. ]
Weiss!
[ He calls, but there's still no answer. He would have thought she'd have come down when she couldn't feel him near her anymore. Or maybe she was showering or brushing her hair... Still, as nudges the door open with his shoulder, he peers into the room to spot her out like a light still. ]
You're really out of it...
[ But even he knows that she'd probably get huffy or ask why he didn't get her up sooner if he just left her! Setting the fresh breakfast plate of crepes down on her nightstand, he sits down on her side of the bed, staring down at her as he runs his hand across her forehead again, brushing her stray bangs to the side. ]
'Kay. That's it. [ He firmly grabs her shoulder and finally starts shaking her. Nothing harsh! But even she's gotta stir. ] Up and at'em. Got something for you...
[ He stops, cocking an eyebrow as she didn't even groan from getting disturbed. ]
... [ He tries again. Harder this time as he shakes her shoulder rapidly. ] ... Weiss, hey, c'mon—
[ Again. And again. This time? His heart feels heavy without quite dropping, eyes widening with a sudden shift in mood. She's not waking up... He can hear her breathing like nothing's amiss but...she's not waking up at all. The plate of crepes forgotten, he leans over her and finally decides to take the risk, carefully scooping her upper body up into his arms as he holds her.
His tone firms. ]
Hey. Wake up.
[ Her head is bowed against him, nary a response as his mouth suddenly starts to feel dry. His hands shake. And before the panic sets in, ]
Weiss...?
— — — May 2nd • Next Morning . . . — — —
[ It's been...almost 24 hours? Shorter? Longer? He can't even tell anymore. He's only had about one to two hours of sleep this entire time, almost never once leaving her side as he either remains seated at her bedside or with his head down on the mattress. Every time he felt she was moving, his eyes would shoot awake and he'd check on her condition again. No fever. Breathing. It's like she was placed under a spell...
The last thing he wanted to do was get anyone worried yet, so he monitors Weiss' status, not letting Ruby or the others in on what's happened just yet. At least, he tries to keep things under wraps. The only person who knows about what's happened to Weiss from the get-go is Elaine herself, who continues to check in on Cloud and attempts to get him to finally eat and sleep. It...doesn't work so well. The look of concern hasn't once left his face, even when he attempts weakly smiling down at her to share some strength. His eyes betray him. He's worried about losing her after all.
At some point in the night before, he was prepared to finally take his leave and search for a cure to her seeming eternal slumber, until he was stopped by their landlord. If it wasn't for her putting him at ease of Weiss' condition, he would have alerted the entire network begging for a cure and help already- even if that kind of stress and fear wasn't right to place upon her friends. But instead, he listens to the wise woman's tale, a tale of memories and faeries that would put lost travelers into a deep slumber to rediscover themselves.
Upon waking up, they would suddenly know their way home. How did she know this...? Before Cloud can ask any further questions lingering on the edge of his mind, the aged, bony hand of the woman rests atop his, sagely smiling and encouraging him to have faith in Weiss. As Weiss would have faith in him. They're here for a reason. And if their bond is so strong, she will remember what she has lost and come back to him. Surprised by her words, he reluctantly concedes to staying at Weiss' side throughout the night.
All the way through, only finally beginning to fade as he lays his head down on the bed beside the sleeping Weiss, lids growing heavier. ]
[ Had Weiss woken up when she couldn't feel Cloud beside her anymore, she would definitely have looked for him around the house after checking her phone. If he left for the city to run an errand or two, he would have said something the night before. Any other time he goes out in the morning unplanned must be something important.
And when she sees him making breakfast? He'd get a hug from behind, with Weiss slipping in next to him soon after to kiss him good morning.
Except none of that happens. Weiss is fast asleep, not even that stressed the night before! She went to bed fine, the usual things that get her to space out far from her mind. But it seems that what's been making her act a little oddly has taken its toll, though, and her Arma Gigas is not at all happy with what's been happening. Between the two of them, it is the Arma Gigas that has more power in this world. It's the source of Weiss' own magic, that with its death, Weiss would not be able to use what she's honed and learned throughout the months she's been here. Their relationship is definitely professional in that Weiss counts on it if she needs its help, and he provides whatever assistance Weiss needs. It's always been that way, even from the start, and even back in Prismatica and Remnant.
The truth of the matter is, the Arma Gigas is her servant. One who was an enemy, defeated and no longer living. Weiss would think that it is the strongest opponent she's ever faced before coming to Beacon, and defeating it changed her life entirely. And when she mastered her summoning Glyphs and she was finally able to summon it? The two of them had an unspoken contract— that it will serve Weiss as her ally, fight for her, and defend her so long as her soul is intact.
And when it realises that there's something wrong with the former heiress? It figures that there is something it must do. Their bond had been growing weaker, so her must strengthen it by strengthening what memories she has of home. In the middle of the night, the Arma Gigas leaves without a trace, only to decide to come back once its bond with Weiss has become strong enough once again.
Weiss is none the wiser to it all. Missing out on the breakfast that Cloud made, not even waking up to comfort him and make sure he's okay when he was upset and worried and distraught. She's completely unaware of what her familiar had done to her, as well, unconscious throughout the first day of the month, only to find herself beginning to stir the morning after. And for someone who had been sleeping so calmly in bed, what she'd experience in her slumber were all terrible things. Things that may as well have been a nightmare, but for some reason, as Weiss shoots upwards, finally awake, she's completely convinced— no, she knows it in her heart— that all of it was real.
Salem is in Atlas, Cinder is in Atlas. She and her teammates found a way to save the people of Atlas and the people of Mantle, even if it meant that both cities would fall and be destroyed. Penny's become human. They were told by Ambrosius not to fall. They weren't supposed to fall. The plan was perfect. Cinder was there. Neopolitan was there. Yang fell. Blake tried to follow. Weiss stopped her. Ruby fell. Blake tried to save her. They both fell.
They both fell. Her teammates are gone. Her teammates are gone, and as all these memories slam into her like a freight train, a whimper leaves her lips as she forces herself not to start sobbing. Her eyes are already wet before she could even realise it, and she can't even see her Arma Gigas materialise next to her side of the bed. She can't see anything. Her face feels so hot. Everything's a mess. Her teammates fell. Her teammates are gone. It wasn't a dream. It was more than that. ]
Ah! No!
[ No. She says it again, hands flying to her head in frustration and anger. And she doesn't mean to, and her Arma Gigas surely doesn't mean for it to happen either, but a couple of pieces of furniture fall to the floor from her bedside table. The bed she shares with Cloud begins to shake, almost as if it could fly and get slammed to the wall at any given notice. Even some other things in the room are beginning to shake, and if Weiss isn't conscious of what she's doing now? Things might fall apart. Quite literally. ]
[ Perhaps only falling asleep for a barely a minute, his eyes shoot open when he suddenly hears the rustle of the bedsheets, her body shooting straight up. Rapidly shaking his head to rid himself of whatever cobwebs formed, he musters all the energy he can into seeing Weiss. Making sure that he wasn't dreaming as he drifts off. She's up. She's awake. At first, he wants to feel elation and relief, but his expression is stern as he focuses on helping bring her back to reality. His hand rests atop her thigh as he sits upright, calling out to her. ]
Hey, hey hey hey... Weiss-
[ But something's wrong. He can immediately tell that something was different. Was it a nightmare? Her eyes are glassy with tears, a whimper leaving her lips as he suddenly reels back his assertive approach. Confused and caught up in this growing whirlwind of emotions, his brow lifts as a sense of empathy washes over him. That's when his eyes shift towards the Arma Gigas that manifests in the room, only for Weiss to scream out. Things begin falling over and his first instinct overrides all else, even if it seems like she's the one causing the room to feel like it's shaking. ]
Ggh—
[ He takes a chance, ignoring the Arma Gigas entirely as he jumps entirely onto the bed with her. With no effort, he lifts Weiss up until she's on her knees with him, on top of the trembling bed that he can feel losing solid ground. It's her magic... It's going out of control... She can't even see him, can she? One way or another, he has to stop this. He has to stop her. The whole damn room can get destroyed for all he cares, but all he can think about right now? Is the girl whose arms he throws around. His hold isn't gentle. It's a tight embrace, a hand clutching the back of her nightgown tight while the other presses to the back of her head.
Clutching his eyes shut, he takes a deep breath as the bed shakes and the pressure of her magic grows stronger. Only for him to exhale gently... ]
[ Nights in particular have been relatively longer for the couple as the month rolls on. Ever since Weiss returned from Atlas yet again, spirits cracked but not smashed to shards, he's only continued to remain attentive to her and their training. The best they can do for the time being is to live. Day by day together and with those they surround themselves with. For everything that's turned out alright for him and his family on Gaia, his journey isn't over until he knows that everyone he cares about is safe. That includes the people of Atlas, and the world of Remnant as a whole. He still doesn't know how. He doesn't know when. He doesn't know where he'll make it all happen.
All that he knows is that when the time comes...
Cloud will manifest another miracle if it meant saving her and her loved ones all over again.
Speaking of day by day... ]

Never felt this long to get here before...
[ It's a certain white-haired huntress' birthday today! Or rather, it will be come tomorrow. They've been planning this getaway for the past few weeks now; frankly, it's the only safe place they can go with their current skillsets. The last thing he wants to do is take her somewhere where their date night consists of fighting. And not with each other. All he can hope for as they step off their ride, arriving in the little village where the Red Spring resort resides, is that they aren't called to action any time soon.
Just like their time spent in Caihong, and to an extent Lystellus (thanks wyverns...)
Carrying only his broadsword and a suitcase lent to him by their landlady, Cloud managed to pack light for this mini getaway. They only intend to stay out here for two to three days. But depending on what's going on in the realm? Who knows. Maybe they can afford to stay a little longer. The Red Spring lodge also opens its doors for those who've recently arrived in this world. When asking ahead, they were fortunate to get a discount (mostly due to the fact Cloud mentioned it being a certain someone's birthday...) Hand in hand with Weiss once they've set foot in front of the lobby entrance, he takes a deep breath before huffing. ]
Well- [ He turns to her at his side, giving her hand a light squeeze as the excitement bubbles beneath the surface for him. This is their first real "getaway" in a very long time. Not since Amegahara, now that he's thinking about it... ] -mini vacation starts now.
[ That or when they finally get to their room. But, close enough. ]
[ This is making her a little nervous. Not that there's even anything to be nervous about, but this is her first time celebrating her actual birthday with Cloud! They didn't get to do so last year because she already had plans with Midorima. They still celebrated after that, but her birthday had passed and it was more of a belated celebration.
Now, today's the actual day and she's not sure what to feel! What if something goes wrong and they end up fighting? She doesn't know! The two of them have had disagreements, but they've never fought. She just can't help but think that something will go awry today. Much like those times when she was much younger and she'd celebrate her birthday.
And for the first time, she doesn't have an agenda set. She's leaving it all up to Cloud on what to do and where to go. All she wants is to be able to spend what should be a special occasion with him.
Going through the brochure, she reads through the amenities... ]
They have a spa, a game room, an outdoor restaurant, a bar, a library, and a playground. It says here there's a convenient store, too, in case we run out of things we need.
[ Cloud might not have much things, but Weiss made sure to pack their necessities in case of emergency. They should have everything they need! ]
Oh, and a souvenir shop. But we can visit that before leaving.
[ In true Cloud fashion, he's only brought along the basic necessities in his own bag. A brush, toothpaste and a toothbrush, and just a little bit of soft styling hair product he managed to score a couple months ago. Knowing this place from his first visit? They'll have towels. ...hopefully. He doubts they would run out. ]
First things first, checking in. Second- well. [ A beat. ] You hungry?
[ It's late and they ate before they left the farm, but hey! While they promised to do sorta halfsies while they were here? If she was hankering for something, he was going to give it to her any time she wants. ]
[ It's another five minutes before Weiss will get another message. ...mainly because Cloud was trying to get close enough to the dog to check their collar. ]
Can't get close enough to find out. It keeps thinking I'm trying to play with it.
[ Enjoy that mental image of Cloud attempting to deke a corgi out across a training field. ]
[ While Cloud himself had abstained from entering any of Celliwig's competitions in a bid to tide the people of Camelot during the King's visit with their Queen, a part of him couldn't help but feel...well. Was it safe to call it nostalgia if it'd only happened a couple years ago? Since arriving in this world some time ago, the two have had to leave behind the lives they'd lead on Prismatica. Their careers? Gone. Their powers? Null and void for the time being. They can count their blessings in that they still had their memories. They still had one another as they lived, day by day.
And it's those very memories that left him feeling more excited than usual, seeing not only some of his friends participating, but being a face in the sea of people watching on during the Vicious Vocals competition. More specifically, that feeling of reminisce that washed over him as Weiss performed once more. By herself. In a duet...
It felt like old times- even if those old times were just a couple years ago. Upon Weiss being declared the victor, he couldn't have been more proud. Now though, as he finds himself in an empty, albeit personal, dressing room to a certain singing huntress... ]
[ That was exhilarating! It feels amazing to have performed something because she wanted to compete and show her craft to a ton of people. It was for herself. Not to please others, and most certainly not to please her father. What's even more thrilling is by the end of it? She won! Now— that is something Weiss absolutely loves feeling. And experiencing.
Sure enough, a winner receives a lot of attention. So much so that she becomes occupied by some people after she's been awarded. There are even interviews and photo ops, which is fine! She's only given a few minutes before some guy from the news wants to talk to her. Of course she wants to share this moment with Cloud! Whatever she can of it, anyway. She would have texted him first if he didn't. ]
[ Cloud's currently fiddling with the handle on one of the dresser drawers when Weiss messages him back. He hasn't been in a changing room like this since...well. Outside of Prismatica? He was trying to go undercover in the slums. The less he remembers or tells anyone about the Honeybee Inn, the better, frankly. What happens in there, stays in there. ]
[ As Weiss had taken up tasks within QuestBoard which saw her preoccupied? Cloud chose to inspect the nature of the lock entrusted to him by the fairy queen. Puzzled by the riddle at first, at least there was still some time before he could finally figure it out. Be it pacing back and forth in his room, or mulling it over while renewing the piles of hay for the farm animals, it finally occurs to him one night, as he proceeds to, reluctantly, etch his name into the lock. A shame that, as he's transported to the bridge that leads to Nicnevin, he glosses over the whole Sing sayonara to the key. part...
And sure enough, it was Cloud's turn to have his luck run out, as a series of unfortunate events eventually culminates in two-fold curses. Forgetting to abandon the key lead to him eventually discovering his inability to open doors. The second? Came when some shady jackass named Speculoo managed to convince him that he had what it took to cure him of his ailment. He didn't fully trust the fairy queen, and clearly, he was paying the price for it. If only Cloud listened to his gut and said "Not interested" to the pixie one last time. No closer to any vital answers than when he first got started, it's early into the afternoon when Cloud returns home to the farm. Without so much as thinking about it, however, as he gets to the front door... ]
Ngh- C'mon—
[ He jiggles the handle. Pulls a little harder. Cranks the knob tighter. Before ultimately remembering the spells that have been cast upon him for his negligence to believe in the fairy queen. ]
Shit...
[ Before he thinks of texting or calling his girlfriend, Cloud paces around the outside of the house, Elaine nowhere to be found as she's off visiting an old friend in the city. In truth? He's looking for a window.
...please tell him that windows don't count as doors and that he can just climb through one. And not get the knights called on him for being accused of being a robber. ]
[ Said blond's girlfriend? None the wiser to the situation unfolding outside the house they're staying in. She's having quite a relaxing time in the tub, the lights switched off as she's got candles and bubbles surrounding her. It was a rather stressful morning, slaying a beast and all. While this isn't the first time she's gotten dirty from fighting, she ended up smelling like fish by the end of it and that was just unpleasant. There's even soft piano music playing from her device! And with this set up, she's completely unaware of everything that's going on outside. Nothing but rest and relaxation so she can get ready for a nice and simple dinner later on.
It's about half an hour later into the bath that Weiss finally decides to get out, taking a quick shower first to rinse before she proceeds to squeeze the water out of her hair. The candles one by one go off, and she finally switches the lights back on. Ah, that was nice! It'll probably take Cloud a bit to get back, so it's fine if she walks out of the bathroom with just a towel around her, right?
... not that he hasn't seen her like this before. Still! She wants to keep decent as much as possible.
Though it's at this moment that she hears some shuffling noises from outside. Huh... maybe it's the wind? It's not that suspicious just yet! ]
[ And as Weiss hears suspicious shuffling noises coming from outside? That would be Cloud's initial scramble to climb up the cornice of the house. It's not a struggle to stay there, since he's been in shape for most of his life. But as he performs a pullup in front of the window in their bedroom, he spots said girlfriend wrapped in a towel. She must have made it back before him! If he knew that, he would have texted her. Instead? Well...
Here he is. In all his unintentionally goofy methods, struggling to push the window open, not caring if he's in plain sight or not. And whether she should look his direction or not? He grunts as his muscles strain as he holds himself up the side of the house, no amount of Kinetic magic or even regular force enough to open the window from the outside.
It all just...comes out sounding like desperate slaps against the glass. This was...gonna be really difficult to explain if she comes to him. ]
[ Everything was happening so fast. With a sense of unease despite what seemed to be the "worst" of his luck behind him this month, at least there was solace in their timing. The young couple, sharing the day together in the heart of the city, were not outside the walls when screams of a Wild Hunt reach their ears. On the regular, Cloud would carry his greatsword with him. At this stage, despite the fact he'd never tried to be a knight in this world, he at least fit the 'merc' role as far as holding his weaponry was concerned. Besides, one never knew when trouble would start. Despite the wane in their original skillsets? He never wanted to be caught without a weapon to defend both himself? And those he cares about from certain silver haired assholes. That unease is tempered, thankfully, by his years of experience as Cloud takes everything in about the upcoming siege.
Wraiths... Ghoulish soldiers that have come to lay waste and wreck havoc across the land. The time for learning who brought them to their door would come later. Right now? They needed to prepare to fight. He never wanted to, but all this time spent training in this world and adapting to a new style had to amount to something. Kinetic Magic. Elemental spells. Swordsmanship. It all culminates as the next grand test is upon them all. It was Cloud's turn to find out whether he could still protect what he cherished. ]
— — —
Haa...haa... Ggh— [ Gritting his teeth, frustration setting in as his weapons and magic have no lasting effects upon these wraiths as he defends the gate, he plants his feet in vain as he's sent toppling over himself, a wraith riding wildly charging black horse bowls him over. He narrowly avoids being trampled as he rolls beneath its hooves and the wraith continues on as if the blond hardly mattered. Dirtied, bloodied by scratches but nothing fatal or concerning, it was more his confusion that continues to hold him back.
He's felled 'undead' enemies before. Yet his weapons have no effect on them. And if Cloud was having trouble fending off these seemingly unwinnable foes? What was everyone else dealing with? Merlin's magic from the castle and Arthur's awe-inspiring tactics and strength were enough to keep them in the game, but all that anyone can do is hold them off. None of their enemies fell. How could they? They were already dead- at least, it was all Cloud could surmise as he struggles back to his feet.
Just in time to be faced down by another imposing figure. Demented in appearance, it's all Cloud can do to grit his teeth and reaffirm his stance as one of the Knights of the Veil advances on him. ]
C'mon, asshole... I'm right here.
[ Rubion, a rage-filled Knight of the Void, clearly didn't take too kindly to this defiance. With a haunting growl, his blade drawn and menacing stature poised to fell the whelp of a man that stands before him, Rubion knows what his end goal is as he prepares to strike Cloud down. Cloud, meanwhile, channels lightning through his own sword. ]
Rraagh—!!
[ Their weapons clash. And though Cloud's power isn't in the same league as Rubion's, thunder rolls as his magically-infused sword blocks the fiend's attack. Unbeknownst to the blond, however, is that death wasn't what this once-serial killer had in mind of this fleeting exchange. Oh no. When the time was right, he had a far more interesting 'gift' in mind for the struggling swordsman. ]
[ It is after some time that Weiss finds herself back in battle. In the midst of fighting these unkillable creatures (absolutely terrifying, mind you), she had to escort a kid who got left behind while his family was escaping. By the time Weiss returns, sword in hand, and with her Arma Gigas out and ready, charging at any wraiths in the former heiress' way, there are already whispers of needing some more time before everyone is asked to retreat. For Weiss, her priority is to regroup with Cloud and provide support however she can.
Lightning and thunder from a distance. Weiss' attention is right there, momentarily distracting her from the fight she's in. Her Arma Gigas at least blocks some hits for her, but now she knows where to go. These enemies aren't anything like the Apathy, but she remembers the feeling when she was exposed to them very well. Absolutely terrifying. The only good thing about the opponents she's doing her best to blast out of the way now with her siphoned magic is that they aren't sucking the energy out of her. This does mean, however, that she's exerting more energy than usual from all the energy blasts she's generating. Her ice bullets does very little to these creatures, but the energy blasts and her kinetic magic at least gives her space between them all. ]
Cloud! [ Throwing some of the wraiths aside with her magic, she finally calls out to the blond swordsman since she thinks he'd be able to hear her. She'd continue and tell him that they need to start retreating, but she finds herself surrounded again. Her Arma Gigas appears once again to start fending off their enemies, which gives Weiss the opportunity to use her kinetic magic and make her movements a lot quicker as she cuts them with her sword. One after the other, the wraiths fall down (albeit temporarily), but she doesn't come out unharmed. She doesn't feel the pain just yet, but she's got a rather large cut on her arm, possibly from getting scratched by one of these creatures. ]
[ As Rubion and Cloud continue to clash, the blond can feel his legs threatening to buckle beneath the pressure of the knight's power. Despite the Chocobo Chick bolstering his elemental strikes from above, it's a strike to the morale knowing that, for now? Anything they do won't fell them. Hurting them wasn't enough if they were simply being forced to retreat. And this realization is only letting the frustration fester deep inside of him. What happens if they fail here? Who falls? Whose lost?
Who does Cloud have to lose?
"Cloud!" ]
?!
[ Forcing space between himself and the wicked knight, he skids back as he swipes his blade to the side, eyes widening as they turn to the sight of Weiss calling out to him, her Arma Gigas working in tangent with her. There's strength in numbers, and it might be high time they exercise that tactic. Gritting his teeth, he steels his nerves and calls back. ]
Weiss! I'm—! [ Suddenly, the dread is twofold. Taking his eyes off his enemy for even a split second when his gaze hones in on the large cut on her arm. Weiss almost never got hurt like this. Not when she had her Aura... Hell, ever since he unlocked his? He hardly spilt blood either. The reality of their current predicament sinks in, and all he can think of doing is rushing straight to her side and defending her for as long as possible.
The dread was twofold. So then...where was the first half of that feeling? Alas,
"That's it, boy." ]
Ah— [ It's for a single instance. The cold, unnerving steel of Rubion's gauntlet touching the nape of his neck as his eyes go wide and something inside of Cloud suddenly snaps. He yells out, pivoting on heel to try and catch the knight, only for said knight to have already moved on. Instead, Cloud is greeted to a hoard of wraiths as Rubion leaves the now tarnished man to his own devices. Oh, if only it could stay long enough to witness the "show" that would soon unfold. But of course, the hunt must commence. And who better to join it than some fresh blood?
Fresh blood that glares sinister daggers at the wraiths he cannot kill, yet feels a compulsion to destroy. Again, Cloud charges, the sheer force of his swing bolstered by Wind magic causing the unorganized hoard to go flying. A temporary reprieve at best, as what fleeting reason was left in his brain calls out to his partner. ]

[ If she can't hear the annoyed tone in his voice, they haven't talked recently enough. He's annoyed about everything. ]
I want to go to an establishment in search of a lucky item, but I'm not certain it's reputable.
[ And last time he went alone bad things happened, so at least he's asking for assistance this time. ]

And before the panic sets in, ]
Weiss...?
May 2nd • Next Morning . . .
no subject
no subject
Shhh shh shh shh...
[ Come back to him, Weiss. Please. ]
Hey, it's me... It's me, Weiss.

no subject
But we can visit that before leaving.
no subject
First things first, checking in. Second- well. [ A beat. ] You hungry?
[ It's late and they ate before they left the farm, but hey! While they promised to do
sortahalfsies while they were here? If she was hankering for something, he was going to give it to her any time she wants. ](no subject)

Just about wrapped up?

Sure enough, a winner receives a lot of attention. So much so that she becomes occupied by some people after she's been awarded. There are even interviews and photo ops, which is fine! She's only given a few minutes before some guy from the news wants to talk to her. Of course she wants to share this moment with Cloud! Whatever she can of it, anyway. She would have texted him first if he didn't. ]
Soon. I'm so sorry.

pretty please? february 10th

Feb 22nd • The Wild Hunt

This is getting nowhere...
[ They need to get away. Fast. ]

You need to get out of here!
